Amrit, Shubh and Labh are considered best for auspicious work; Char is neutral; by tradition new work is avoided in Rog, Kaal and Udveg.
Choghadiya tells you which parts of today’s day and night are auspicious. Choose your city above — Choghadiya is calculated from your city’s sunrise and sunset, and all 16 periods (8 for the day and 8 for the night) are shown together.

What is Choghadiya?
Choghadiya (also Chogadiya or Chaughadia) is a simple Vedic muhurta system. The time from sunrise to sunset is divided into eight equal parts, and the night from sunset to the next sunrise into eight more. Each part is about 90 minutes long and carries one of seven names.
The 7 types of Choghadiya
| Choghadiya | Nature | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Amrit | Best | All auspicious work |
| Shubh | Good | Weddings, puja and religious work |
| Labh | Good | Business, purchases, study and money matters |
| Char | Neutral / good | Travel and vehicles |
| Udveg | Avoid | Traditionally avoided for new work |
| Rog | Avoid | Avoided for auspicious beginnings |
| Kaal | Avoid | Avoided for auspicious beginnings |
How the first Choghadiya of the day is decided
The first Choghadiya of each day is set by the ruling planet of the weekday — Udveg on Sunday, Amrit on Monday, Rog on Tuesday, Labh on Wednesday, Shubh on Thursday, Char on Friday and Kaal on Saturday. After that the sequence follows a fixed cycle. The night has its own order, so the tool shows day and night separately.
Which Choghadiya for which work?
In Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra, traders and families check Choghadiya before travel, shopping or starting new work. Pick Amrit, Shubh or Labh for most auspicious work, and Char for travel. Also check Rahu Kaal Today — if a good Choghadiya overlaps Rahu Kaal, many people skip that part.
Because every Choghadiya depends on local sunrise and sunset, timings change with your city and the season, so families in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia or the Gulf should always use their own city. Choghadiya is one of several ways of choosing a muhurta in Hindu tradition.
