Times are in Dehradun local time (Asia/Kolkata). Calculated with the Lahiri ayanamsa and standard astronomical formulas; a difference of a few minutes from local panchangs is possible.
Choose your city and date above to see the Daily Panchang — tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, weekday, sunrise and sunset, Rahu Kaal, Abhijit Muhurat and today’s fasts and festivals. The Daily Panchang updates itself every day and is calculated in the local time of 38 cities — in India and in London, New York, Toronto, Dubai, Sydney and more.

Daily Panchang: the five limbs
“Panchang” means five limbs. Every day’s Panchang is made of these five:
- Tithi — each 12° of separation between the Moon and the Sun is one tithi. A lunar month has 30 tithis — 15 in Shukla paksha and 15 in Krishna paksha.
- Vara — the weekday, counted in the Panchang from one sunrise to the next.
- Nakshatra — the 13°20′ segment of the sky the Moon is in. There are 27 nakshatras.
- Yoga — formed from the sum of the longitudes of the Sun and Moon. There are 27 yogas.
- Karana — half of a tithi. There are 11 karanas, 4 fixed and 7 moving.
The Panchang above shows until what time each limb lasts and which one comes next, because the tithi and nakshatra often change during the day.
What else today’s Panchang shows
- Sunrise and sunset — from your city’s latitude and longitude.
- Moon sign, Sun sign, paksha, Amanta and Purnimanta month, Vikram Samvat and Shaka Samvat.
- Auspicious times — Abhijit Muhurat and Brahma Muhurat.
- Inauspicious times — Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda and Gulika Kaal.
- Disha Shool — the direction in which travel is traditionally avoided today.
- Today’s fasts and festivals — full list in the Vrat Calendar.

Amanta and Purnimanta months
North India (Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal) follows the Purnimanta month, which ends on Purnima. Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana follow the Amanta month, which ends on Amavasya. So during Krishna paksha the month has a different name in the two systems. Our Daily Panchang shows both, so everyone can read it their own way.
How the Panchang is calculated
All values are computed astronomically with the Lahiri ayanamsa — the standard used by most Indian panchangs — and shown in your local time zone. That makes this Daily Panchang useful for Hindu families in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, the Gulf and Singapore as well as in India. Learn more about the tradition at Panchangam on Wikipedia.
