What is Kaal Sarp Yog?
In Vedic astrology tradition, Kaal Sarp Yog is said to form when all seven planets — Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn — lie on one side of the axis between Rahu and Ketu. Rahu is seen as the serpent’s head and Ketu as its tail, so the planets are described as “hemmed in by the serpent”. It is also commonly called Kaal Sarp Dosh.
Rahu and Ketu are always exactly 180° apart, so the Rahu–Ketu line divides the chart into two halves. When all seven planets fall into one half, the yog is formed.
