Meaning of Om Jai Shiv Omkara Aarti
Om Jai Shiv Omkara — Glory to Shiva, the form of Om; Brahma, Vishnu and Sadashiva, who holds Parvati as half of his body (Ardhanarishvara).
Ekanan Chaturanan Panchanan — With one face (Vishnu), four faces (Brahma) and five faces (Shiva), the Lord is seated on the swan (Brahma), on Garuda (Vishnu) and on the bull Nandi (Shiva).
Do bhuj char chaturbhuj dasbhuj — With two, four and ten arms he looks magnificent; seeing his form of the three gunas, all three worlds are enchanted.
Akshamala vanmala mundamala — He wears a rosary of rudraksha, a garland of forest flowers and a garland of skulls; sandal paste and musk shine on him and the crescent moon on his forehead.
Shwetambar pitambar baghambar — Dressed in white, in yellow and in tiger skin, he is surrounded by the sages Sanaka and others, by Garuda and others, and by the ghosts and spirits (bhoot-gan).
Kar ke madhya kamandal — Holding a water-pot, the discus and the trident, he brings joy, removes sorrow and sustains the world.
Brahma Vishnu Sadashiv janat aviveka — Only the unwise think Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva are separate; all three shine as one in the syllable Om.
Trigun swami ki aarti — Whoever sings this aarti of the Lord of the three gunas, says Shivanand Swami, attains happiness and prosperity.
