Meaning of Om Jai Jagdish Hare Aarti

Glory to you, Lord of the universe, who removes the troubles of your devotees in an instant. Whoever meditates on you receives the fruit; sorrow leaves the mind, happiness and wealth come to the home and the body’s pains disappear.

You are my mother and father — whose refuge should I seek but yours? There is no one else for me. You are the complete Supreme Being, the knower of all hearts, the Lord of all; an ocean of compassion and the sustainer of all. I am foolish and full of desire — have mercy on me.

You are unseen, the Lord of all life; how can an ignorant one like me meet you? Friend of the helpless, remover of sorrow, my protector — raise your hand, I have come to your door. Remove my worldly desires and my sins, increase my faith and devotion, and let me serve the saints. Everything is yours; I offer you what is already yours.

The aarti is credited to Pandit Shardha Ram Phillauri, a 19th-century scholar from Punjab.
