Meaning of Ramayan Ji Ki Aarti
- Refrain: Let us do the aarti of the holy Ramayana, filled with the lovely glory of Sita’s lord, Shri Ram.
- Verse 1: Brahma and the gods, sage Narad, Valmiki skilled in wisdom, Shukadev, the Sanakadi sages, Shesha and Saraswati sing it, and Hanuman, son of the wind, describes its glory.
- Verse 2: The Vedas and eighteen Puranas sing it; it is the essence of the six shastras and all scriptures — the wealth of sages, the all of saints and the essence agreed by all.
- Verse 3: Shiva and Parvati, the wise sage Agastya, Vyasa and the great poets praise it; it is the story treasured by Kakbhushundi and Garuda.
- Verse 4: It removes the sins of Kali Yuga, makes sensual pleasures tasteless, adorns liberation like a bride, is the nectar herb that cures worldly disease — and for Tulsi it is mother and father in every way.
How to do the Ramayan Ji Ki Aarti
- When the recitation ends, place the book on a chowki in a red cloth and offer flowers, sandalwood and akshat to it.
- Meditate on Shri Ram’s court and Hanuman ji.
- Light a ghee lamp; sing the Ramayan aarti first, then Shri Ram Stuti and Hanuman ji’s aarti.
- Share the prasad and call out “Siyavar Ramchandra Ki Jai”.
7 rules of Ramayan Ji Ki Aarti
- Stand and do the aarti with a ghee or camphor lamp, moving it clockwise.
- Wave the lamp 4 times at the feet, 2 at the navel, 1 at the face and 7 times over the whole form.
- Offer bhog first, then do the aarti.
- Blow the conch, ring the bell or clap during the aarti — it keeps the mind focused.
- Do not get up or talk in the middle of the aarti.
- Afterwards take the aarti with both hands and share the prasad.
- Keep pronunciation clear; do not rush — sing with feeling.
