Who is Chitragupt ji

According to the Puranas, after creation Brahma meditated for 11,000 years, and from his body (kaya) emerged a divine being holding pen and inkpot. Because he dwells hidden (gupt) in the mind (chitta), he was named Chitragupt, and because he was born of the body his descendants are called “Kayastha”. Brahma gave him, along with Yamraj, the task of recording the deeds of every being. On Bhai Dooj Yamraj visited his sister Yamuna, so both Yama and Chitragupt are worshipped that day.
